Perfect size for when you don't need you big Bolga! These smaller baskets are ideal for quick trips out to the garden to collect herbs & veggies for dinner, or small market trips. Personally, I adore them used as household storage-- filled with rolled towels in the bathroom. Don't let their small size fool you though-- they are crafted with the same quality, strength & attention to detail as their big sisters! Each is handcrafted & unique-- some will have leather wraps at attachment points, others will not. All have wrapped leather top handles.
These stunning, traditional Bolga Baskets are handmade by master artisans in farming villages in the Bolgatanga region of northern Ghana, & are perhaps the best known of all African baskets. Woven on a traditional HEDDLE, a special loom used with the elephant grass to craft the baskets, the art of which is passed down generation to generation. Each purchase helps provide the farmers & weavers in the region with a sustainable way of living, & 10% directly goes to funding elementary schools for children in the region. A wonderful combination of contemporary style & time-honored techniques.
