Heddle & Lamm Bolga Baskets
These stunning, traditional Bolga Baskets are handmade by master artisans in farming villages in the Bolgatanga region of northern Ghana, & are perhaps the best known of all African baskets. Woven on a traditional HEDDLE, a special loom used with the elephant grass to craft the baskets, the art of which is passed down generation to generation. Each purchase helps provide the farmers & weavers in the region with a sustainable way of living, with 10% going directly to fund elementary schools for children in the region. A wonderful combination of contemporary style & time-honored techniques. |
