Foraging in mid-coast Maine in Fall is a veritable smorgasbord! We are blessed with a wide & varied selection of amazing, wild plants to support us. If you've always wanted to get out there & make use of all these treasures, but aren't sure where to start-- this workshop is for you! Join us in the Local Batch Kitchen Saturday Sept. 12th at 2pm. While we will not be going out in the field together, this workshop will be the next-best thing!

A beginner-level class, this workshop will be entirely centered on bioregional herbalism, the practice of learning, using, respecting, & growing alongside the plants that grow around us. We will discuss what is in season & currently blooming here in our section of mid-coast Maine. We'll work together with freshly harvested, wild plants, focusing on easy ways to ID them, their habitats, & their uses.

Each attendee will leave with their own Foraging Calendar specific to our area, ID & harvesting info for many currently popping plants, as well as some beautiful Plant Monographs. Additional items to support this class are available for purchase if desired, but are not necessary to attend.

This will be a small group class & very hands on. We are expecting it to run about 2 hours long. CLASS SPACE IS LIMITED. This is a PRIVATE EVENT; advance ticket/s must be purchased.

Workshop Optional additions:
Botanical  Notebook & Reference Guide:  Full-sized spiral notebook with reference guides on the interior covers summarizing language for herbalists, common herbal preparations, a handy foraging checklist, & foraging ethics.
Clip & Go Pruners: Colorful handle with a unique clip that makes them my go-to snips for foraging.
Herbal Academy Botanical Coloring Workbook:  includes 25 botanically accurate illustrations of fun-to-forage plants that commonly occur in the United States, & summary monographs to expand your learning experience of these plants.
Herbalism: Plants & Potions That Heal Book:
covers the history of herbalism & A mini Materia Medica, enabling readers to identify many common plants& how to use them in teas, infused oils, salves and balms.
The Skillful Forager Book: The ultimate forager’s guide to working with any wild plant in the field, kitchen, or pantry—featuring plant profiles, harvesting, preservation tips, & easy recipes.
The Book Of Wildflowers: first-rate botanical illustrations assembled from National Geographic magazines from 1915 to 1924, features over 120 color plates.
Pocket & Field Flower Press:  Small size makes these easy to bring with you on walks & foraging adventures. Made of silver maple, these are specially crafted for us in Michigan.
